Parcours photographique dans Côte-des-Neiges

Le sept août dernier, j’ai fait ma première sortie avec Idaction Mobile. J’accompagnais Dukakis, médiateur. Par un heureux hasard (pour moi), la sortie fut précédée d’un Atelier Photo d’environ deux heures en compagnie des participant-e-s du Club Ami du quartier Côte-des-Neiges.

Ce projet, en plusieurs étapes, consiste en photos prises par chaque participant.e lors de promenades dans ce quartier qu’ils et elles connaissent si bien. Bien que la journée soit d’une chaleur presque insoutenable, une dizaine de personnes sont venues, un appareil-photo en main. Quelques-un-e-s s’inquiètent de ne pas savoir utiliser l’appareil. D’autres demandent la permission de photographier tel lieu ou édifice.     

Sydney, -un passionné de son quartier et de l’histoire de celui-ci-, connaît la date de construction des immeubles classés historiques ou non. Est-il ingénieur, concepteur, historien? Je ne le sais pas et cela m’importe peu. C’est sa passion qui m’intéresse et ce sentiment d’appartenance qui, en fait, est celui de chacun-e. Élisabeth cherche le bon angle pour mettre en valeur l’église sur la rue Côte-des-Neiges.    

Youssef, quant à lui, me fait découvrir son quartier par ses commerces et en oublie de prendre des photos. Il connaît le nom de chaque commerçant et même l’ancien. Je réalise que j’accompagne des personnes qui habitent dans ce quartier depuis trente ans ou plus. Racines, liens, communauté, appartenance : tout cela relègue au second plan le reste. Moi-même suis avec eux et nulle part ailleurs. Dans le temps réel qui est le présent.

J’étais avec un petit groupe. L’autre partie était avec Dukakis et une intervenante du Club Ami. Sur la fin de cette sortie, nous nous sommes tous retrouvés autour d’une crème glacée.
