Mission humanitaire au Népal

La première mission d'un programme visant l’envoi d’artistes de cirque et clowns thérapeutiques en accompagnement de missions humanitaires médicales dans les pays en voie de développement se déroulera prochainement au Népal. Conçu en association avec Rotaplast International, une ONG dont le mandat est de traiter des enfants souffrant de déformation faciale, ce programme vise à humaniser l’expérience pour les enfants et leurs familles en leur apportant un accompagnement psychologique personnalisé dans l’approche et le vécu de leur opération chirurgicale.

Trois artistes de cirque québécois rejoindront la mission Népal du 5 au 21 février et les équipes Rotaplast constituées de 14 chirurgiens, anesthésistes, pédiatres, dentistes, infirmiers et personnel non-médical originaires de San Francisco. Initié dans le cadre d’une mission Rotaplast en Éthiopie en novembre 2006, ce projet est une collaboration entre Exeko, Rotaplast International, Clowns Sans Frontières Canada et le Gesundheit Institute fondé par Patch Adams.

« Cette mission constitue un premier pas concret vers l’objectif d’intervenir dans 6 missions pour l’année à venir, » a déclaré Nadia Duguay, directrice de projet et cofondatrice d’Exeko. « Ces artistes de cirque professionnels apportent la magie, le rire et l’enchantement pour ces enfants pris dans un cercle de peur et de rejet social, dans le but de faire renaître des sourires. »

Les trois artistes qui quittent le Québec pour rejoindre la mission au Népal sont : Anne Brulotte-Légaré, Marie-Christine Simoneau et Emmanuel Cyr.

La mission sera documentée par une équipe de tournage menée par Wayne Schoenfeld, photographe et auteur récompensé (Almost Perfect, Mission To India, Through This World But Once, Icons/Iconoclasts – publiés par Great Circle Books). Ce film sera le second d’une série de documentaires intitulée Body and Soul, sous la direction et production de Wayne Schoenfeld.
