Appel à projet pour Métissages Urbains

English below

Wall art at Jardin des Premières-Nations

1 ephemeral wall art at Jardin des Premières-Nations

1 artist commited for the social diversity at Montréal

1 500 $ to create an innovative project

Métissages Urbains welcome artists in residence in our common space: the street. Each project consists in co-creating art work (painting, wall art, comic strips…) with the passers-by to create a place of exchanges and improbable meeting between all citizens. The artists are coupled to one or several intellectual and cultural mediators during the residence, so facilitating the exchange between various actors.

As part of this project, we are looking for an artist (we favor candidacies emanating from First Nation and Metis artists) to realize an ephemeral wall art at First Nations Garden. This wall art will be exposed during almost one year, of June 21st, 2016 (National Aboriginal Day) until spring, 2017.

It is the 2nd collaboration between the First Nations Garden and Exeko: (re)discover the first edition on the blog (in French).

The project

« Hey but this is awesome, how does it work? »

It is quite simple: the wall art have to be co-created with the passers-by in the streets of Ville-Marie with the theme “Natural Child”, between March and June, 2016. In the spirit of the project and our organism, the artist must propose an including project which speaks to all the citizens, including the most marginalized (homeless in particular), with a view to create social mix.

The wall art consists in two parts :

  • An ephemeral wall art of 8 feet by 8 feet
  • An sound creation to accompanied the wall art (could be done by the artist or subcontract)

The chosen artist disposes of 1 500$ to realize his project. It includes the artist compensation, the purchase of materials and the eventually subcontract for the sound part: to you to manage your budget

Interested?

The submission deadlines is the 3rd, February, 2016

Complete the following form then send your candidacy at [email protected]. Thanks!
