Métissages Urbains - saison 2

IDEAL HOME (October 2015)

“We even say to ourselves that we’ll have a house, with plenty of windows and hardly any walls, a house where we’ll live, and where we’ll be happy, and that if it’s not a certainty, it’s still a possibility,” sang Jacques Brel. The “Ideal Home” project comes from Suzanne Doucet and Colleen Lashuk, two professional architects, who believe everyone has a right to imagine and dream up their own house, tipi, igloo, shelter… Drawings of this perfect home are then transposed into scale models by participants.

The artists of Métissages Urbains’ second season :

• Guillaume Vermette with « Le Chemin le plus court », as said Chaplin about the laughter. The artist, a clown in his personal life, invites the public to share a good laugh. A filmed performance, broadcasted on the internet as a viral video.

• Patsy Van Roost with « Hommage sur trottoir ». A poetic project allowing residents of a given neighbourhood to pay tribute to each other, both mutually and individually. With stencils, sprays and some sweet words, tenderness will be cultivated on the sidewalks, the very ones on which we look more at our feet than than we do at our neighbours.

• Alexandra Pastena with « Little Roses ». With the act of folding and distributing red roses, each containing a personalized message, the artist, like an nomadic urban landscaper, will gradually build a visual space exemplifying the symbolic power of the rose – feminity, beauty, strength and love.
